MASTERCLASS #25 What are the alternatives to petrochemical-based polymers?

Heure et lieu
Mar 23, 2022, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
LA CASERNE, 12 Rue Philippe de Girard, 75010 Paris, France
À propos de l'événement
Alternatives exist to petrochemical-based polymers, which do not biodegrade in nature. Bio-based polymers are not all biodegradable, so it is important to consider the circularity of these materials, but they do enable alternative uses of raw materials.
Here are the questions we will address:
- Biopolymers, and their environmental and social impact
- The different raw materials used to produce biopolymers
- The manufacturing stages of a biopolymer from raw material to finished product
- The reality of biodegradability after use: levels of degradation and industrial conditions required for biodegradation
- Creativity in biopolymers: showcasing innovative materials
- Certifications dedicated to biopolymers
- Traceability constraints
- Relocating raw material production within Europe
- How to communicate both the advantages and trade-offs of these materials
