HEMP

France is currently the world’s leading producer of hemp, but this potential is still not fully leveraged by the fashion and luxury industry. Yet hemp is a naturally technical and innovative material. It is also considered an alternative to resource-intensive natural fibers. It requires very little water to grow and is highly resistant to insects and diseases.

Beyond the raw material, hemp garments offer many interesting properties: they are durable, hypoallergenic, thermoregulating, and provide UV protection. While brands are beginning to explore the material, its use in textiles remains limited, even though the technical and creative possibilities are numerous.

Production, traceability, circularity—this session will explore everything about this material, its uses, and its environmental impact.
