À propos de l'événement
From linear to circular—what does it mean? No, it’s not geometry, but rather the transition our economy must undergo to respect the planet. As a reminder, the linear model we currently follow relies on the intensive extraction of natural resources. It does not take into account the Earth’s natural capacity for renewal and operates as follows: Extract, Make, Consume, Dispose.
In contrast, the circular economy refers to a more sustainable model in which resource use, waste generation, and overall consumption are reduced. The guiding logic becomes the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
The textile industry is the second most polluting industry in the world, largely due to fast fashion, which is characterized by an accelerating pace of clothing collections. Clothing production keeps increasing while their lifespan continues to decrease. It is therefore urgent to shift from a linear economy to a circular one that is more respectful of the planet.
