GLOBAL GOALS
BY THE United Nations
what are the global goals ?
In September 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development which could mean an end to extreme poverty, inequalities and climate change by 2030. Each of the 17 Goals are broken down into targets which both explain the Goal and will help in focusing efforts. A target is an action - a specific, measurable and time-bound outcome which contributes directly to reaching a goal.
Why do the global Goals matter?
Our world is more innovative, connected and fast-growing than ever. We can only solve global challenges such as poverty, inequality and climate change by working together – the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide the framework for that to happen.
An unified and unifying plan of action
1
The SDGs focus global development efforts on common objectives. It is essential for development work to be oriented in the same direction in order to focus on what really matters and ensure no one is being left behind. The Goals can be achieved with enough political will, investment and action at all levels.

Bringing the World together
Holding governments accountable
2
The SDGs are a way to hold governments to account, with every UN Member State (193) agreeing to the framework. Citizens, including educators, young people and even children will play an important role in monitoring Goal implementation and putting pressure on governments to ensure the most marginalised groups are reached. Your participation in teaching the Goals to students and encouraging their support is a vital part of this effort.
The SDGs are built on the idea of partnership. Achieving the Goals will be impossible without the cooperation and participation of everyone. These Goals were created by the people for the people through one of the widest participation processes in history. Civil society (people like you simply getting involved) played an important role in the design phase of the Goals (over 500,000 people participated through debates and consultations).

UNIVERSALITY
The SDGs concern each and every one of us. The 2030 Agenda demonstrates that for all our cultural, economic, and political differences, certain ideals and rights are universally shared. The SDGs are an opportunity to change the world for the better but they depend on action. They depend on joint, sustained and early action.
la caserne : FOCUs on goal 12
Our planet has provided us with an abundance of natural resources. But we have not used them responsibly and we currently consume far beyond what our planet can provide. We must learn how to use and produce in sustainable ways that will reverse the harm that we have inflicted on the planet.
The goal 12 is divided into eleven targets to create action for responsible consumption and production.
SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT AND USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES
SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE WASTE GENERATION
ENCOURAGE COMPANIES TO ADOPT SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES AND SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING
PROMOTE UNIVERSAL UNDERSTANDING OF SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLES
Other GOALS WE SUPPORT
EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP
By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development
ENSURE FULL PARTICIPATION IN LEADERSHIP AND
DECISION-MAKING
Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.
IMPROVE WATER QUALITY, WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND SAFE REUSE
By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.
IMPROVE RESOURCE EFFICIENCY IN CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
Improve progressively, through 2030, the resource efficiency of global consumption and production and strive to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the 10‑Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production, with developed countries in the lead.
