WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?
The Justice system is meant to be neutral. In France, it speaks in the name of the Republic: equality before the law, universalism, the promise that facts prevail over identity. And yet, justice is never abstract. It is shaped by language, framing, and memory. It defines what counts as truth, how damages are recognized, and which narratives enter the national archives. Between punishment and reparation, recognition and repression, justice reflects a political and social climate. Convictions are prepared long before a sentence is pronounced. MEETUP 9 explores the architecture of conviction: how narratives shape punishment, how empathy is distributed, and how institutions claim objectivity within the hierarchy. The question remains: Who are you to judge?
