If two-thirds of French consumers say they prefer responsible consumption, 45% report favoring local consumption since the end of the COVID-19 lockdown (OpinionWay for Max Havelaar, 2020). The COVID-19 crisis has indeed reinforced consumers’ desire to buy more locally, encouraging brands to produce in France and to engage in proactive initiatives supporting “Made in France” practices with positive environmental and social impact.
On the production side, Made in France is often seen as restrictive in terms of cost, volumes, lead times, and creative possibilities. However, reshoring is underway: innovative proposals are multiplying, and many solutions now exist to produce well and at a fair price. The French textile, fashion, and apparel industry is experiencing a true revival across the entire value chain, developing a local model that creates jobs in our regions and is responsible, sustainable, and efficient.
