MEETUP #24 What is the environmental impact of linen and hemp, local and low-energy materials?

Heure et lieu
Apr 20, 2022, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
LA CASERNE, 12 Rue Philippe de Girard, 75010 Paris, France
À propos de l'événement
France is the world’s leading producer of flax, yet 80% of it is sent to China for spinning. Several major players in sustainable fashion have therefore launched initiatives to relocate flax processing stages back to Europe. Similarly, hemp is a naturally high-performance material and an alternative to energy-intensive natural fibers. It is both an artisanal and innovative material.
Production, traceability, circularity, we will explore these materials in depth, along with their technical and creative potential, as well as their environmental impact.
Here are the questions we will address:
Flax & hemp: their environmental and social impact
The manufacturing stages of flax or hemp-based textiles, from raw material
The constraints and advantages of flax and hemp in textile applications
