THE AGEC LAW

The Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy (AGEC) law is driving a major transformation in the fashion industry, which is now required to reconsider its viability and find eco-responsible alternatives for managing its inventories. Brands are now subject to a ban on destroying unsold stock and risk heavy fines if they fail to comply with this law.

The government’s stated goal is to accelerate the shift in production and consumption models in order to reduce waste and preserve natural resources, biodiversity, and the climate. Consumer information is another major focus of the law, pushing brands toward greater transparency in their communication.
